How drafting works when it's just you and one opponent

Draft your picks — snake style

You don't just pick any game you want. You take turns. This keeps it fair and makes every selection meaningful.

Single first pick, then strict pairs throughout — no end-of-draft bunching.

Both styles always give each player the same number of picks. You choose which pattern to use when you create the competition.

Who picks first?

The player with the better record gets first pick. Tied? It alternates night to night. New competition — the creator goes first.

The defer move

On weekly and season competitions with 4+ games on the slate, the player with pick priority gets a strategic choice before anyone picks.

Optional pick types

When creating a competition you can unlock additional pick types. Each one uses a draft pick slot — the same cap applies. Moneyline odds are always shown next to team buttons as context, regardless of which types are enabled.

How picking works when the whole crew is in

Everyone picks every game

Unlike 1v1, there's no draft in a pool. Every member picks every game independently before it starts. The leaderboard tells the story — NHL, MLB, or FIFA World Cup.

For each game, pick who wins. In FIFA pools, Draw is also a valid pick worth a full win if you're right.

Once a game starts your pick is locked in. You can change or retract your pick any time before the first puck drop, first pitch, or kickoff.

Before a game starts, only your own picks are visible. Once it begins, everyone's picks are revealed — that's when the group chat lights up.

NFL Survivor League

One pick a week. One loss and you're done.

Pick one team. Don't repeat. Survive.

Each week of the NFL season you pick one team to win. Your team loses? You're eliminated. The catch: you can never pick the same team twice. Last person standing wins the whole thing.

Every NFL week (Thursday through Monday) you pick exactly one team to win their game outright. No point spread — just win or lose.

No repeating teams

Once you've used a team, they're gone for the rest of the season. Used your safe favorite early? Now the slate looks a lot harder.

Picks lock before Thursday kickoff

The lock time is 1 hour before the earliest game of the week. No changing your pick once the lock hits — plan ahead.

Picks hidden until lock

You can see your own pick but everyone else's is hidden until the lock time passes. After lock, all picks are revealed — the group chat gets interesting.

Eliminated when your team loses

If the team you picked loses — or if you miss the deadline and don't pick — you're out. No second chances.

Tiebreaker options

When multiple players survive to the end, the creator can choose how ties are broken: split the prize, the riskiest picker wins, extend into playoffs, or go to overtime (sudden death with fresh picks).

Strategy tip

Save the best teams for late in the season when the pressure is highest. Using the Chiefs or Eagles in Week 1 feels safe — but you'll miss them in January.

Draw (FIFA pools only)

In FIFA pools, Draw is a valid pick option worth a full win if the match ends level. In 1v1 NHL/MLB, draws don't happen.
